Project management and sustainable tourism: this combination forms the basis of PM4SD™ the international methodology and certification designed to plan, implement and monitor tourism projects with sustainability.
PM4SD applies whenever an organisation, public or private, needs to plan and manage a sustainable tourism initiative. PM4SD aims to contribute to the tourism competitiveness and to the achievement of sustainable development goals. It helps governments, destinations and companies to plan and execute transformative projects. It is a practice to be adopted for participatory, effective and sustainable management.
PM4SD is a structured project management methodology based on PRINCE2®, Projects in Controlled Environments, the de facto project management standard used both in the public and private sector worldwide.
The Foundation for European Sustainable Tourism (www.festfoundation.eu)(FEST) has developed the PM4SD certification in partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University and it is in charge of maintaining and disseminating the methodology worldwide, APMG International, is the certification and examination body.
