Project Management and Sustainable Tourism. This combination forms  the basis of PM4SD™, Project Management for Sustainable Development, a new methodology and qualification for designing and  managing tourism projects with success.  

Through the T4EST initiative: 100 professionals in Europe have been trained and certified in PM4SD™ to act as tourism project managers and share this knowledge and expertise across the tourism industry and its varied sectors.

During its pilot phase in 2013 6 training courses in European Regions and the first Summer School have been organized.
More training courses are currently run thanks to the ATOs (Accredited Training Organisations)

Public and private tourism organizations, Training organizations, Tourism professionals, Tourism students, Policy Makers, Trainers joined the T4EST Training Courses in PM4SD.

Through T4EST, PM4SD training courses have been developed to:

  • CERTIFY competences in sustainable tourism management
  • MANAGE sustainable tourism project successfully
  • TRANSFORM project into concrete actions
  • PLAN destination with sustainability
  • ENHANCE professional career
  • BECOME a certified Project Manager for Sustainable Tourism

Thanks to FEST –  Foundation for European Sustainable Tourism, that owns PM4SD™ methodology, trainings courses and the Summer School in “Leadership and Governance for Sustainable Tourism” are still ongoing.

PM4SD™ is based  on PRINCE2® (Projects In Controlled Environments), a structured method for effective project management, widely recognised and used in the public and private sector. PM4SD™ has got a re-use licence by the UK Cabinet Office and its qualification and accreditation body is APMG.
